Our warm and welcoming team is here to support you every step of the way.
To visit our lovely team at ACT Perio, we require a referral and relevant imaging from your general dentist prior to scheduling your initial consultation
Prior to the Appointment
Prior to your appointment, one of our bubbly team members will ask you to fill out a New Patient Form. This provides us with information about your medical history and current medical status.
Consultation
During the consultation the Periodontist will discuss your medical history, referral, imaging and current concerns. During most consultations a periodontal chart is completed, additional imaging may be taken, and treatment recommendations are discussed.
Before leaving your appointment, you will be provided with a treatment plan, including a cost breakdown and scheduled appointments.
CBCT and Imaging
Prior to Implants, extractions, bone grafting or sinus lifts a CBCT may be required to assess your bone density and eligibility for treatment. Your Periodontist will assess the CBCT images and discuss the results with you prior to confirming next steps.
Impressions
Impressions are often required prior to your surgical appointment; these models are given to our Canberra based lab technicians who will create your surgical guide or post operative retainer.
General Review
In some cases, our Periodontists will review patients 4-12months after a procedure or when treatment has concluded to monitor the patients progress and condition.
Suture and Membrane Removal
After a surgical procedure your Periodontist will review your surgical site 2-4weeks after your appointment to remove the stitches or grafting membrane. This appointment will be scheduled along with your surgical appointment and will take 5-10minutes to complete.
Torque Test
After an implant has been placed and the surgical site has healed, your Periodontist will conduct a torque test 3-4months after placement to ensure the implant has integrated before you see your general dentist for the crown to be fitted.
Crown Review
Once your crown has been fitted with your general dentist, your Periodontist will conduct a crown review 2-3months after placement to ensure you are able to clean around the crown and maintain the implant.
