We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based periodontal care tailored to each patient.
Our decisions prioritise patients’ best interests, guided by honesty, transparency, and ethical practice.
Debridement
Periodontal debridement is completed under local anesthetics to remove heavy calcified tarter that has built up underneath the gum surface. Prior to your debridement sessions, your Periodontist will complete a full Periodontal chart to assess the pocket depths of each tooth and to indicate areas of concern. Debridement treatment removes the buildup on the root surface on the tooth and aims to reduce the pocket depths surrounding the tooth.
Open Flap Debridement
Once debridement treatment has been completed, your Periodontist will complete a review Periodontal chart to assess how the tooth pockets have responded. If there has been no improvement or symptoms persist, then your Periodontist may recommend an Open Flap Debridement.
Completed under local anesthetics, your Periodontist lifts a small section of gum away from the tooth exposing the problem area and allowing further in-depth cleaning to be completed. After cleaning the flap is seated back into position and with sutures in place the site can begin to respond to treatment.
Maintenance
After treatment has been completed, your Periodontist will continue to monitor the treated areas and continue regular maintenance of the mouth every 6-12months. Our team coordinates with your general dentist to ensure you are receiving regular dental monitoring and cleaning.
Extraction
Our Periodontal team are experts in removing infected, fractured, loose or broken -down teeth. All completed under local anesthetic, our team uses refined extraction techniques and the utmost care to remove the teeth as comfortably as possible.
Sinus lift
Prior to an implant being placed in the upper jaw some patients require a sinus lift or augmentation. This surgical procedure is completed under local anesthetic and aims to gain more vertical bone before an implant is placed.
Our Periodontal team uses the highest quality, TGA approved and certified human cadaver bone or animal bone and membranes for all grafts. All donor material is tested for any blood borne diseases or illnesses and is sterilised before it is delivered to our clinic.
Bone grafting
In some cases, if a patient has insufficient or thin bone, they may require a bone graft to thicken the bone prior to implant placement, to support a fitted implant or once an implant or tooth is removed. This surgical procedure is completed under local anesthetic, and the graft can be placed at the time of extraction (if suitable), several months before implant placement or at the time the implant is fitted.
Our Periodontal team uses the highest quality, TGA approved and certified human cadaver bone or animal bone and membranes for all grafts. All donor material is tested for any blood borne diseases or illnesses and is sterilised before it is delivered to our clinic.
Gingival grafting
For patients who have moderate - severe gum recession, we offer gum grafting to cover a large portion of the exposed root or to thicken the preexisting gum to prolong the longevity of the tooth and soft tissue. Using industry leading surgical techniques our Periodontal team resect a small section of soft tissue from the roof of your mouth and transplants it to the nominated site; this increases the acceptance rate of the transplanted tissue. This surgical procedure is completed under local anesthetic.
Frenectomy
Often treated early in young children, Frenectomy is the surgical procedure where the connective tissue between the lip and gum or tongue and soft palate are expertly trimmed away. This surgical procedure is completed under local anesthetic and aims to improve speech, cleaning ability and to allow an Orthodontist to close gaps between the teeth.
Resorption Defect
Resorption defects can occur both internally in the tooth or externally in the surrounding tooth structure. Resorption defects are a result of the breakdown of cells in the tooth structure. External resorption defects can be treated with a sub-gingival restoration and recontouring. Internal resorption defects are commonly assessed and treated with an Endodontist if the tooth is viable, if the tooth is not viable then the tooth will need to be extracted and assessed for replacement options.
Exposure
Commonly treated in children going through Orthodontic treatment, an unerupted tooth will need to be exposed and with gentle traction brought into the right position in the arch. Completed under local anesthetics our Periodontal team resect a small amount of soft tissue exposing the buried tooth, then attaching a gold chain to the tooth and braces, begins the process of gentle traction to move the tooth.
